Club history
FG Galaxy FC was formed for the start of the 2008/09 season as a new
club but is actually a reunion of a former club previously established
by a long standing group of friends from local league football within
Crawley.
After progressing into the Sussex County League structure early this
new millennium the club, then known as TSC, expanded steadily to
incorporate three adult teams, a ladies team and a youth team, with a
healthy and thriving social section organising events and gatherings
that were supported and enjoyed by the club members and their families
and friends.
Having established themselves within the County and local league
structures, after five seasons the club was notified of the new
national ground grading scheme under proposal by the FA which meant
that the club would not have been able to compete within the pyramid
structure at the facility they were operating from, therefore a
decision was made to merge with a neighbouring club in an attempt to
continue playing and socialising together.
With several key players migrating away to play at other clubs
throughout the County the close camaraderie that was evident before
began dwindling, and the social events were spread out with lengthy
absences in between; and so after six seasons apart the decision was
taken to reform a new team and club, with the majority of the former
teammates returning to link up once more as FG Galaxy FC.
The whole Galaxy ethos is based upon enjoyment whether through playing
the game or supporting an event, the emphasis is on a collective sense
of fun. We try to play an attractive style of football and instil in
our members a sense of fair play both on and off the pitch.
This belief was fully justified when we were awarded the Crawley
& District Football League Sportsmanship award to sit proudly
alongside the trophies won during our inaugural season including a
remarkable treble of Charity Shield, Junior Cup and league one
title.
Whilst the backbone of the squad is made up of former players we have
managed to attract some new blood which has strengthened the first team
squad to the point where a second team is now also playing in local
football; add to this an under 11 team which has started this season
for what we hope will become a buoyant and flourishing youth section.
